Rebuttal to Global Warming Video: Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth

1. The Great Global Warming Swindle

2. Unstoppable Solar Cycles (Ther Real Story of Greenland)

Both are very good retorts to Algore's rants. I no longer have working links to those, but was able to find them, but I have no idea how you would download them and put them on a DVD. If it is possible, I am sure you will find a way. I watched number 1 on youtube before I sent this, so I know it is out there. There are many more like this. I tried to find a video that I thought was put together by Dick Morris (FOX News) that was a great retort to Algore's movie, but I couln't find it...maybe you will do better than me.

Here is the problem you are going to have. Pro-Global Warming videos rely on scary images and unsubstantiated theories to drive their point home. Anti-Human Caused Global Warming Skeptics rely on good science and facts to prove their point. Problem is, children, and many adults (chiefly liberal Democrats...OK, cheap shot) are swayed by scary stuff which is not based in reality more than real scientific arguments, mostly because it is far easier and requires less brain power to believe bad things that aren't real than it is to really think about and understand the science of the issues. For children, this is excusable, because they don't have the analytical or scientific knowledge base to be able to properly evaluate a video and decide if it is fact or fiction. Because of this, I find it inexcusable for biased teachers to present speculation and unsubstantianted hypotheses as fact, especially if it conjures scary images that children are not equipped to properly evaluate. It is brain washing!!! Of course, you have already come to this conclusion. For non-thinking adults who accept the scary videos at face value and pass it on to children without really thinking about them is inexcusable. I don't know your situation, but this is the real point I wish you could get across to the school board. The video retorts I have mentioned are best attempts to make difficult to understand concepts (i.e. scientific concepts, not political ones, that are too hard for most people to try to understand) comprehensible to the basic lay-person. But the concepts require thought and a valid attempt at understanding the complex (and not yet completely figured out) science. Most adults should, but are too lazy to put in the effort and lack the ability to be skeptical or just try to see the other side of an issue. They just believe what is easiest to grasp...that is usually the one that is emotional based on scary images rather than the logical based on scientific fact.

Children, unlike non-thinking adults who have no excuse, are sponges that have not developed the ability to be skeptical, and react and believe emotional pleas rather than dry, boring, fact-based commentary. That is why it is completely immoral to try to influence [brain-wash] children with scary videos!!!!

Anyway, you got me going with this one. It irks me to no end that a public servant/teacher is attempting to fill my niece's mind full of rediculous political, and scientifically unsubstantiated mush. Good thing Nichole has a good sounding board to provide an alternative perspective for this and other issues. Many children don't have that...that is, thinking or caring parents. But that is another topic for another day...
